Speakers were (i) Mr. Manas Mohan and (ii) Ms. Aparna Mishra MBA from Lucknow University, Founder & CEO Cafebiz Club, a community of Entrepreneurs, which promotes, develops and sustains Entrepreneurs and provides them 360 degrees support. She is also Founder Director Radiance Corporate Solutions Pvt. Ltd which was started by a start up and has now grown multi folds with diversified work in various sectors like corporate training, skill development and running two call centres of Mahindra holidays and Tata Sky.

The faculty comprised (i) Mr. Manas Mohan, a professional trainer who has worked in a variety of startups narrated many case studies in Entrepreneurship and (ii) Mr. Neeraj Saxena Founder of Celera Healthcare and The Sales Academy spoke about the mind-set needed for Entrepreneurship and how students can orient themselves to start an enterprise from the day 1 just after the college.

LMA in collaboration with National HRD Network U.P. Chapter organized a talk on Conflict Management on 17 March 2017 in LMA Conference Hall Scientific Convention Ventre 1 Shahnajaf Road Lucknow from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm preceded by High Tea at 5 pm.. The speaker will be Mr. Ajay Gupta, Managing Director of Mumbai based Kray Group of Companies.. Ajay has been a keen Rotarian, and has held various positions including Rotary District Governor of Mumbai’s most prestigious district. Recognizing his immense contribution, Rotary International by conferred on him, the Rotary Award Four Avenues of Service Citation in 2008-09 & then the highest Rotary Award, Service Above Self in 2009-10. He is also a much sought out Trainer & motivator and has been speaker at multitude of Seminars and programs across the country on various subjects.
On the International Women’s day, 8 March 2017, LMA organized a Woman Achiever’s Conclave in which Outstanding Woman Achiever’s Awards 2017 were conferred on Women achievers in the fields of Academics, Corporate, Entrepreneurship, Governance, Social Service, Culture, and Sports. Ms. Pooja Agarwal Pro Chancellor Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University who was the Chief Guest in the Conclave conferred the Awards.
LMA in collaboration with Biziga, an IIM Alumni initiative, organized an Online Simulation Based Training for Running a Business Enterprise on 4 March 2017. The exercise, in a competitive format, related to setting up and running a retail store in a Mall. Simulation decisions involved location, leasing, Merchandising, Pricing, Promotions, HR Management, Investments and New Initiatives. Parameters for participant’s evaluation included sales/sft, return on investment, conversion rate, customer experience and customer retention, and profitability. 507 students from 8 institutions participated from their respective locations from 9 am to 4 pm at the end of which, based on the overall weighted score on all parameters, the Winner, 1st and 2nd Runner up were declared.
YMF collaborated with Headstart,( a Bangalore based nonprofit with 20 branches countrywide committed to promote Startups in the country); to organize a workshop on Basics of Startups on 7 March 2017; Speakers were Mr. Manas Mohan who worked in a variety of startups, ranging from education, hospitality and law and Mr. Brijesh Saxena Former Project Manager Computer Science Corporation India and promoter Taurus Branding Consultant which owns www.artnirvan.con, a Startup which is an online market place for art and artisans.

A premier non government organization Pratham has been working with children in thousands of villages and urban slums across India. Pratham's long experience of working with children suggested that though the children were in school, they were not learning well. Pratham conducts nationwide survey of children's ability to read simple text and do basic arithmetic that would engage ordinary citizens in finding out whether their children were learning and publishes Annual State of Education Report (ASER) every year. These reports are considered source of most authoritative information on state of education and learning outcomes in different states. The ASER Centre brought out ASER 2016 in January 2016. LMA organized a presentation on Annual State of Education Report 2016 with Special Reference to Uttar Pradesh on 3 March 2017. The presentation was made by Dr. Wilima Wadhwa Director ASER Centre New Delhi. Dr. Wadhwa is a double postgraduate in Economics from Delhi University and University of California, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California. Dr. Wadhwa has been published extensively and teaches statistics and econometrics at the University of California (Irvine), and the Indian Statistical Institute. Dr. Wadhwa’s research interests also include development and economics of education. Besides President LMA and LMA members, those attended the presentation included Mr. Ajay Singh Secretary Basic Education, U.P. Govt., Mr. U.B. Tripathi Special Secretary, U.P. Govt., Dr. Sarvendra Vikram Singh Director General State Council of Education Research & Training, Dr. Vedpati Mishra Director Sarv Shiksha Abhiyan, and Mr. D.B. Sharma Director Basic Education.
AIMA’s Diamond Jubilee Management Day was celebrated with a panel discussion on the designated theme Fast Forward-From Catch-up to Leadership on 21 February 2017. The panel comprised Prof L.K. Maheshwari Former Vice Chancellor BITs Pilani, Dr. Kavita Pathak Director Jaipuria Institute of Management and Mr. Vinamra Agarwal Director Technical Associates. Meaningful insights into the theme emerged in the interactive session.
The third Joint LMA-AIESEC- Human Circle workshop was organized on 9 February at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University on the theme “Hack Your Brain to Follow Your Passion”.
The fourth Joint LMA-AIESEC- Human Circle workshop was organized on 9 February at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial College of Engineering & Management on the theme “Think like an Entrepreneur”.
Panel discussion on the Union Budget has been an annual event of LMA for many years. A discussion on the Union Budget presented by Hon. Union Finance Minster of India on 1 February 2017 was organized on 10 February in association with Rotary Club of Lucknow. A distinguished panel comprising Dr. Arvind Mohan Professor of Economics, Director IMS and Director Institute of Development studies, Lucknow University, Mr. Rajat Mehra Director Rajat Chemical Industries and Mr. Asish Kapoor Chartered Accountant Asija & Co discussed at length various aspects of the Budget from macro-economic, industry and taxation perspectives together with an informed interaction with members of LMA and Rotary Club. Col P.S. Tewari President of the Rotary Club of Lucknow was present among others.
LMA organized a one day Training Workshop on Managing Contract Labour and Latest in Labour Laws on 4 February 2017. The programme faculty comprised two former U.P. Govt officers of Labour Department Mr. D.K. Kanchan Former additional Labour Commissioner and Mr. Mr. B.N. Bhartiya Former Assistant Labour Commissioner and two advocates practicing in Labour Law matters in the High Court Mr. Mr. Sharad Kumar Shukla and Mr. Nishchal Jagdari. Besides nuances of Contract labour Abolition and Regulation Act, Employees Compensation-Death/Accident EPF & Misc provisions Act, Factories Act, Bonus, Gratuity Act, Trade Union Act, Collective Bargaining, ESI Act, Building and other Construction Act were discussed with relevant cases decided by Supreme Court and High Courts. Key labour reforms being introduced were also discussed in the programme.

The second Joint LMA-AIESEC- Human Circle workshop was organized on 8 February at Institute of Management Sciences on the theme Hack Your Brain to Follow Your Passion.
Young Manager Forum of LMA collaborated with Indian arm of AIESEC to organize a series of Workshops for Young Managers a non profit Human Circle based in Delhi. With Headquarters in Rotterdam, Netherlands, AIESEC (French acronym for Association internationale des étudiants en sciences économiques et commerciales) is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. Human Circle was founded by two professionals Wioleta Burdzy (Poland) and Kamal Seth (India) who left their jobs in multinational companies to start Human Chain to inspire young people to take innovative challenges. Human Circle organizes experiential events, self growth programs, coaching & mentorship, and experiential learning with a determination to change the mindset of young people to do what they love, create an impactful career and make the world a better place with their passion. Workshop sessions on three interesting themes relevant to young and old alike were organized at different Institutions. The first workshop on Think Like an Entrepreneur was organized on 8 February 2017 in Department of Business Administration, University of Lucknow.
A Management Development Programme on Export Procedures and Documentation was organized for Young Mangers on 19 January. The participants were exposed to hands on knowledge of different types of documents viz.Commercial Documents, Regulatory Documents, Export Assistance Documents, Documents Required by Importing Countries along with export procedures and incentives. The faculty comprised working executives in two successful exporting units - Mr. Anil K. Gupta Head of Finance, Yash Papers manufacturers of high quality paper being used in industry world over and Mr. Vijay Pratap Singh Chief Sr. Manager (Export Logistics) in P.N.International, world class manufacturers of all kinds of safety equipment.

LMA partnered with Jaipuria Institute of Management in National Conference 2017 on Major paradigm Shift in Marketing organized on 3 & 4 February 2017. Among the speakers in the Inaugural Session were Mr. A.K. Mathur Vice President & Executive Director LMA, Ms. Rama Bijapurkar Noted Author and Consultant of Marketing strategy, Professor Rajendra Nargundkar of IIM Indore and Professor Kavita Pathak Officiating Director Jaipuria Institute of Management. The session on Retail Marketing- Changing landscape was led by Mr. Hanumant Mishra VP-Aditya Birla Group and session on Marketing Analytics- Gaining Consumer Insights was led by Sri Nath Gangil Retail Analytics, Future Value. A presentation titled Chasing the Pink Elephant: Why Users and Non Users of Products and Services Matter was made on LMA’s behalf by Mr. Rajan Johri Managing Director LeadWynn, a Service Science Consultancy in the Technical Session. Many papers on the theme were presented by academics from different institutes. Valedictory address was delivered by Mr. Alok Ranjan Chief Adviser to Hon. Chief Minister and President LMA.
LMA organized its Annual Manager’s Day Out on 29 January 2017 in Dilkusha Gardens of Historic Dilkusha Kothi with history dating back to the year 1800 which is now a well known picnic spot. There were host of interesting games, fun and frolic for members, their families followed by Lunch.
The Closing and Awards Ceremony of AIMA Management Olympiad was held on 25 January 2017 in which certificates and 135 Gold, Silvers and Bronze medals were given to winners of different group events. Also, Trophies for Mr. Young Leader and Ms. Young Leaders were given for the highest individual medal tally and the Champion trophy for the Institution with highest medal tally. Mr. Alok Ranjan Chief Adviser to Hon. Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh was the Chief Guest, Prof Vinay Pathak Vice Chancellor APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University and Dr. U.N. Dwivedi Pro Vice Chancellor Lucknow University were Guest of Honour who gave away the prizes. AIMA Team lead by Mr. Neeraj Kapoor was present on the occasion.

There were four sessions of Business Simulation Game on 24 and 25 January with four different Cases handled by AIMA Game Administrators. 125 students participated in the Games
Marketing Quiz, Human Resource Quiz, Brand Quiz, Business Personality Quiz, Current Affairs, and Women’s Quiz were conducted in the AIMA Management Olympiad by AIMA Quiz Masters in six separate events on 24 and 25 January. In all 312 students participated in the quiz competitions.
In a Knowledge Sharing Session of AIMA Management Olympiad on 25 January 2017, the theme was Global Meltdown on 2008 and its impact on the World Economy and India. The speaker was Dr. Arvind Mohan Professor of Economics, Director Institute of Management Sciences and Institute of Development Studies. Professor Mohan is a keen researcher on economic policies and advises The World Bank, UNDP, UNESCO and many Global agencies besides being an adjunct professor at IIM Lucknow.
A Knowledge Sharing Session on Make in India: Zero Defect; Zero Effect was organized on 24 January 2017 as a part of AIMA Management Olympiad. The speaker was Prof S. Chakraborty Former Dean and Director-in-charge, IIM Lucknow and Director Jaipuria Institute of Management.
Four Case Study Competitions were organized in the AIMA Management Olympiad on 24 and 25 January 2017. The themes given to the participants for presentation in these competitions were (i) How to make ‘Swaach Bharat' a reality in India, (ii) What steps you feel will help India become corruption free?, (iii) How can cashless economy be a near reality in India? and (iv) Make in India and Cashless society what do you feel The One thing which would make difference in India’s growth. 109 students participated in different groups of the competition. Mr. Neeraj Kapoor Director AIMA addressed a session advising students on technique of making presenntations.
Hon. Governor of Uttar Pradesh Shri Ram Naik was the Chief Guest in the Inaugural Session of AIMA Management Olympiad organized in collaboration with Lucknow Management Association on 24 and 25 January 2017. Institute of Management Sciences, University of Lucknow was the host institution. About 550 students from 14 Management Schools in Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad, Bareilly and Faizabad participated in several parallel events of the Olympiad. Among those present in the inaugural session included Mr. Alok Ranjan Chief Adviser to Hon. Chief Minister Uttar Pradesh & President LMA, Dr. S.P. Singh Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow, Mr. Neeraj Kapoor Director AIMA, Prof Arving Mohan Director IMS, Mr. A.K. LMA organized the 4th Joint LMA-GST Grurukul Management Development Programme on Business Processes of Payments and Refunds under GST Regime on 23 January 2017. The programme included discussion on provisions of payment in Model GST law, procedure prescribed in Draft Rules for Payment, formats relating to payment, provisions of Refund in Model GST law, procedure prescribed in Draft Rules for Refund and formats relating to Refund. GST Gurukul, a nonprofit organisation, has been formed by a group of experienced commercial tax professionals who are four former senior officials of State Commercial Tax Department. GST Gurukul is dedicated to disseminate knowledge on GST.
LMA organized the 11th Annual Training Workshop on Implementation of Right to Information Act, 2005 on 21 January, 2017. The core faculty of the workshop was Mr. Venkatesh Nayak Programme Coordinator, Access to Information programme, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative who has hands on practical experience of RTI related matters including training, research and development all over India and many developing countries. Useful reference documentation in two volumes, one with DOPT Rules and CIC Judgments and other in soft copy, with extracts of Landmark High Court and Supreme Court Judgments was provided to the participants as course material. Chief Secretary Uttar Pradesh, through a circular, advised all State Government Departments/Undertakings to their nominate officers to attend the programme. Mr. Justice S.C. Verma Former Lokayukta Uttar Pradesh delivered the inaugural address.
37th Annual General Meeting of Lucknow Management Association was held on Friday, 18 January, 2017. The business transacted included considering and adopting the Annual Report of the Executive Committee and to consider and adopt the Audited Balance Sheet of the Association as at 31st March, 2016 and Income & Expenditure Account for the year ended on that date along with report of the Auditors. Mr. Alok Ranjan President LMA presented the Annual Report together with financials which was adopted by the house after a discussion.
A lecture was organized on Leadership-From Mahabharat to Future Bharat on 18 January 2017. The speaker was Dr Himanshu Rai. Dr Rai obtained his doctorate from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad and is a faculty at IIM Lucknow Before this he was the Dean of MISB Bocconi and Professor at SDA Bocconi, Milan, Italy Earlier, he had a stint of a little over a year at XLRI Jamshedpur. Dr. Himanshu Rai has deep knowledge of scriptures especially Geeta and relates various events in Mahabharat to modern management. He very profoundly articulated concepts of ethical leadership in his presentation which preceded the AGM.

K. Jhunjhunwala - Chairman K. M. Sugar Mill Group/FICCI , U.P. & Past President Assocham U.P., Shri V. K. Agarwal- Managing Director, Shashi Cables Limited, Lucknow & Past President- FISME, IIA, CACMAI, and Shri Vidya Sagar Gupta – Chairman, Steel and Alloys. Ms. Shreya Jai of Business Standard moderated the discussion.

The speaker was Mr. Vikas Gupta, an alumnus of IIT-BHU and IIM-Kolkata with over 20 years corporate experience in telecom sector and currently, an entrepreneur in Solar energy. He has been conducting sessions in various areas of Management at various institutions including IIM Lucknow.
LMA and Department Higher Education Govt. of Uttar Pradesh organized an interactive session on Creation of Start Ups and Innovation Hubs in the state universities on 2 December 2016. Besides a few start ups among LMA members, several faculty members from universities and Government officers participated in the session. The focus of interaction was out of the box thinking in developing proposals for creation of innovation hubs in universities and high performing colleges. A presentation on NOVAs-New Orientation of Vocation with Aspirations for accelerating the Rashtriya Uchhatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) was made by Dr. Rajan Johri Managing Director LeadWynn, a service Science Consultancy and collaborator of LMA for MDPs. .Mr. Pramod Chandra Gupta Special Secretary Higher Education, U.P. Govt and Dr. Alok Srivastava Dy. Director Policy & Planning RUSA participated in the interactive session.
LMA organized a presentation on Distinctive Features of Lucknow Metro by Mr. Kumar Keshav Managing Director Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation on 9 January 2017 followed by a conducted tour of LMRC’s campus of Transport Nagar Depot. Lucknow Metro is arguably the largest and most prestigious project that the present State Government has undertaken. The project which is in advanced stage of implementation is technologically most sophisticated with features better than any metro in the world. LMA members were taken round by the MD, LMRC and his team on a guided tour of amazing campus including the state of the art Workshop, inspection lines, stabilising lines, auto coach washing plant, emergency traction unit, receiving power substation etc and Depot control centre from where the operations of the entire metro would be conducted. The visiting members were also shown a fully operational metro train which had recently undergone successful trial run. The visit was highly educative and LMA members experienced during this visit a highly professional LMRC work culture where integrity, ethics, accountability, transparency and time bound commitment had been imbibed in the system.
Mr. Alok Ranjan President LMA and Mr. A.K. Mathur Vice President & Executive Director called on Hon Governor of Uttar Pradesh Shri Ram Naik on 9 January 2017 and invited him to be the Chief Guest on the inaugural session of AIMA Business Olympiad to be held on 24 January, 2014 in the Malviya Hall, University of Lucknow. Hon. Governor graciously accepted the invite. The two day multi event Olympiad is being organized on 24 and 25 January 2017 in collaboration with University of Lucknow.
Women’s Forum of LMA organized a talk on 30 December 2016 by Ms. Sachi Singh a prominent Social Worker and Founder/General Secretary of Ehsaas, a non Governmental Organization working for rescuing and rehabilitation of vulnerable and underprivileged children. Recipient of several awards including National Award by Hon‟ble President of India Sh. Pranab Mukerjee for exemplary work in the field of Child Welfare, Ms Shachi Singh, initiated her work with street children at Charbagh railway Station home of many destitute children in Lucknow city of Uttar Pradesh and has spread her activities to many railway stations of the country. She is working for the all round development of the disadvantaged children. Sachi Singh in her talk shared her journey which actually began at a very young age she was touched to the core when she saw a child crying as she didn't want to go to work and was being forced against her wish by her own mother
Art of Business Storytelling uses stories as a powerful business tool to inspire and engage team members. LMA jointly with NHRDN U.P. Chapter organized a Workshop on Art of Story Telling for Management leaders and Entrepreneurs on 30 December. Speaker was Ms. Rohini Vij Founder & Chief Creative Officer NutSpace Edtech Pvt. Ltd. Rohini Vij is a certified storyteller from The Academy of Storytelling, Bangalore, affiliated to the International Institute of Storytelling, Tennessee, USA, Scottish Storytelling Centre-UK, and University of Skovda, Sweden.
LMA organized an interactive session on Ease of Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh on 27 December 2017. The session was attended by Directors of Udyog Bandhu (Department of Industrial Development) uttar Pradesh, Ernest and Young and Members of LMA Research Team on the subject. Mr. Alok Ranjan Chief Adviser to Hon. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Chaired the session.
On 26 December 2016, LMA organized a talk on Management in High-Growth Technology Companies like Google and Uber: A perspective by Mr. Manik Gupta Director Uber Technologies Inc.San Francisco USA. An alumnus of Nanyang Technological University Singapore and MBA from Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, Mr. Manik Gupta is responsible for creating best-in-class mapping solutions for optimal pickup and drop off experiences for Uber's riders and drivers. Prior to Uber, Manik worked on Google Maps for over seven years. He led the creation and curation of all the maps and businesses data to make Google Maps, the most accurate, comprehensive and useful map of the world. Manik spent many years in Singapore where he founded an e-commerce startup, BuyItTogether.com,. Uttar Pradesh has established a state of the art police emergency response system centre called ‘UP 100’, which is the largest and most sophisticated emergency response system in the world, where anybody in the state can seek help 24x7 through phone, texts or any other communication method and in turn will be provided relief and help within minutes. Since its inauguration on 19 November, it has responded to around 85000 complaints. Construction and operation of this centre employed under challenging environment all the components of leadership and highest standards of technology and management inputs. LMA organized a study tour for is member to this newly operationalized UP 100 Control Centre on 22 December 2016. Mr. Venkat Changavalli, an IIMA alumnus, former Managing Director EMRI and Adviser to Home Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh who helped the Government in setting up this unique facility along with Mr. Anil K. Agarwal Additional Director General of Police & CEO of this project hosted the visit and made presentations before giving guided tour of the control Centre.
CUTS is an International non profit working on public interest issues. CUTS was commissioned by U.S. Government to undertake a study on ‘Evaluation of Competitiveness Among North Indian States' and had interacted with LMA on Ease of Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh as a part of their study. LMA was invited to be a part of panel on “Role of Small Meaningful Enterprises in Innovation Driven Economy' at the International Symposium on “Making North Indian States Competitive: Path to Inclusive and Sustainable Growth” held at Jaipur on 17-19 November 2016 and was represented on the panel by Professor Jabir Ali of IIM Lucknow and a part of LMA research group on Evidence Based study Ease of Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh. Demonetization is arguably the most radical intervention in India’s history with far reaching economic and societal effects. An endless debate is currently is in progress with divergent views on its outcome. LMA in collaboration with PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry addressed this issue in a panel discussion on Demonetization-Its Impact on Economy on 19 December 2016. In the wake of recent demonetization, even small traders and shop keepers are going digital while many of us are not familiar with use of cell phone for making and receiving payments which is becoming a necessity. LMA is organized a Workshop on Cashless Transactions-A Digital India Initiative in which hands on instructions about various processes were shared by an expert on 16 December 2016. The workshop was led by Mr. Amit Prakash, an engineering graduate from Birla Institute of Technology and MBA from IIM Lucknow. He worked with Tata Motors and currently he is Sr. Manager heading Adiya Bilra Group digital banking at Idea Cellular.
The Income Tax department has notified that the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016 (BTP Amendment Act), has come into force with effect from 1st November 2016. The new law seeks to give more teeth to the authorities to curb benami transactions and lays down stringent penalties for such transactions. LMA organized on 12 December 2016 a lecture on Key Provisions of Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016 and its Implications. The speaker was Mr. Pankaj Agarwal Chartered Accountant.

Prag group is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of specialty engineering products for Railroad, Oilfield & Industrial applications. Products range from specialty rubber and rubber-to-metal bonded products to advanced railway equipment, a variety of polyurethane products, and a wide range of filters and filtration systems.The company was started in 1983,as a workshop for the manufacture of agricultural diesel engine fuel-injection elements and locomotive miscellaneous spares. In 1993, the company started design, manufacture and installation of sugar milling equipment in the U.S. and in 1996 started manufacture of a range of automobile mounts for after sales market in the U.S. and Europe.Today, the group has several manufacturing facilities located in India in the cities of Lucknow & Dehradun offering one of the most diversified product portfolios in the industry.
Krav Maga is a self-defense system developed for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF) that consists of a wide combination of techniques sourced from aikido, judo, boxing and wrestling, along with realistic fight training. Krav Maga is known for its focus on real-life situations and its extremely efficient in brutal counter-attacks and promotes finishing a fight as quickly as possible. Red Brigade established in rural Lucknow, founded by Usha Vishwakarma, herself a rape victim focuses on empowering women through self-defense education. 38000 women have been already been trained under a programme being run by Red Brigade. LMA collaborated with Red Brigade to organize two self defense workshops on 7 and 10 November 2016 in which 300 girls of Shri Ramswaroop University were trained in Krav Maga system. A team of 7 French trainers under the leadership of Mr. Thomus who is black belt champion and a Self-defense trainer came from France to for this programme which was conducted along with Red Brigade.

Dr. Dinesh Singhal is MBBS, MS (Surgical), DNB (Surgical Gastroenterology) and a Fellow of Hepatobilary & Pancreatic Surgery, Academic Medical Centre, University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He has worked as Consultant and Senior Consultant at premier Hospitals in Delhi. Dr. Singhal has many research papers, book chapters and awards to his credit.
A large number of young management professionals in the country are reportedly going into business of producing and distributing milk. One such “boutique dairy” named Valentia set up by a group of telecom professionals led by Mr. Pankaj Sharma Director of Valentia Organic Farms has come up at village Paschim about 15 km from Lucknow, off Sitapur Road. A visit of LMA members was organized on 15 November to this Milk farm which produces fresh cow milk through a completely mechanized process and is delivered in glass bottles transported in chilled containers to about 2000 consumers in the city. A gold medalist in MBA program, Pankaj started his journey in the corporate world. Serving companies like Mahindra & Mahindra, Airtel, Idea, Uninor in high impact roles gave him rich experience and inspired him to become an entrepreneur. A Lead India (The Times of India) finalist, Pankaj is a firm believer of the idea that India needs more employers now. Working on this ideology he has excelled and has given wings to his dreams. LMA members not only got an insight in the processes at Valentia but also some inspiration from the young entrepreneurs running the venture.

LMA collaborated with National HRD Network Lucknow Chapter in organizing AIMA’s Flagship event Business Simulation Management Game Chanakya on 16 and 17 September 2016 which was hosted by Department of Business Administration, University of Lucknow. 26 teams from Business Schools and corporate participated in the programme. JBS Faizabad walked away with the First prize among the institutions while the Institute of Management Sciences was the Runners Up. One of the teams of Tata Motors was the winner in corporate category and Team fr om NTPC was Runners Up.

Consequent to announcement of LMA as knowledge partner of SPV constituted for Lucknow Smart City project, LMA Knowledge Centre for Smart Cities and Urban Rejuvenation in an interactive session held on 9 September 2016 deliberated on the agenda of presentations/proposals to be made to SPV Board. The Centre decided on three themes viz. Developing Smart Qaiser Bagh, Developing Smart Mahanagar, Making Lucknow Energy Efficient, and Developing Smart Urban Transportation in Lucknow.
LMA has scheduled AIMA’s Business Simulation Game Chanakya on 16-17 September 2016. On 7 September, LMA conducted a preparatory workshop for the prospective participants of Chanakya to understand the nuances of the Game so that they are better prepared to handle the decision making process during the actual programme. The session was conducted by Dr. Rajan Johri Managing Director leadWynn who is among the founders of NHRD and had helped organizing Chankaya many years back in Gujarat.
Institute of Company Secretaries of India Lucknow Chapter in association with LMA organized a 15 days Management Skills Orientation Programme beginning 15 September for ICSI interns. The interns were exposed to both technical and soft skills subject through faculty comprising LMA members and industry professionals
Young Manager’s Forum of LMA collaborated with TiE Lucknow Chapter in organizing a Workshop on Taking your Business Online on 4 September. Speakers were (i) Mr. Vinod Punjabi, a leading entrepreneur who shared how he took his traditional local chikan garments business to global level though online e tailing model and (ii) Mr. Mr. Harsh Gupta who explained how one can set up his or her e-shop. He enlightened the participants with best practices in development, hosting, payments, reporting, supply chains and customer handling etc.
Subsequent to inclusion of Lucknow in the Smart City list of Government of India, State Government constituted a Special Purpose Vehicle for implementation of the project. The Board of SPV headed by Commissioner, Lucknow Division Dr. Anoop Pandey held its first meeting on 31 August 2016. On 3 September, 2016, LMA was invited to the SPV Board for our inputs on the way forward. Based on LMA’s experience on the subject through deliberations in Annual Convention 2014 and subsequently in the meetings of LMA Knowledge Centre for Development of Smart Cities and Urban Rejuvenation, some initial inputs were provided to SPV to move forward with the process. These inputs were well taken and SPV Board decided to include LMA as its Knowledge Partner. In this role, LMA will provide, from time to time on regular basis, credible knowledge and implementable proposals to the SPV on various aspects of Smart Cities with Lucknow focus. LMA will also organize focused presentations by domain experts, first of which was tentatively scheduled in September end.
Following the interactive session on the Draft Education Policy 2016 organized by LMA on 8 August in which Dr. Rukmini Banerjee CEO Pratham Education Foundation & Director ASER made a presentation, LMA was invited to an interactive session in the National Preparatory Workshop for ASER 2016 on 2 September 2016 in which about 120 representatives from almost all states in India participated. Besides President and Vice President LMA, Professor Kavita Pathak, Dean Research Jaipuria Institute of Management and a member of LMA research team in the upcoming evidence based study on Transformation of 100 Elementary Schools through Non Governmental Interventions in and around Lucknow also participated.
LMA-LeadWynn in collaboration with King George’s Medical University organized Patient Relationship Excellence Programme for Nursing and Paramedics on 1 September 2016. Besides about 300 Nurses and paramedics, Prof Shally Awasthi Head of Medical Education, KGMU, Prof. J.V. Singh Dean Nursing and Prof. Vinod Jain Dean, Para Medics and several faculty members of KGMU were present in the programme. A specially designed Quiz was a part of the programme besides a presentation of application of Service Science in Nursing and paramedical functions by Dr. Rajan Johri.
LMA organized an interactive session on Service Management and Service Science with faculty members and research scholars of Department of Business Management, University of Lucknow on 30 August 2016. The principal speaker was Dr. Rajan Johri Managing Director LeadWynn, who brought out a difference between the two themes explaining how Service Science is emerging as a powerful tool in the present competitive business environment. The session was also addressed by Mr. Syed Abdullah Rizvi of Bitumat Comapny Ltd. Riyad , one of the major companies of the Arab world. He dwelt on importance of this emerging discipline for the industry.
To sensitize the senior faculty of Integral University on how to improve employability of students LMA organized an interactive session on Enabling Employability I Expending Employment on 29 August 2016. The Principal Speaker was Dr. Rajan Johri Managing Director LeadWynn, a Service Science Consultancy in allainace with Swiss Institute of Service Science, Zurich. . Among others, Professor T. Usmani Pro Vice Chancellor, Dr. Nadeem Akhtar Director (Planning & Reseach), Prof Aftab Alam Dean, Faculty of Management and Prof Adeel Maqbool Head Department of Management participated in the session.
Cuts International, a Jaipur based International Non profit has undertaken a project assigned by the US Embassy in India on evaluation of competitiveness among the North Indian states covering six States including Uttar Pradesh. Cuts International visited Lucknow to seek inputs from LMA based on its Evidence Based Research Study on Ease of Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh which was recently completed and submitted to the Government. LMA organized an interactive session on the subject on 29 August, 2016 with representatives of Cuts International including its Director Mr. Udai S. Mehta. Information on business climate in various States was shared with the visiting team during the session.
Young Managers forum of LMA organized a workshop on Quest for Quality: Improving Personal Effectiveness in collaboration with Department of Business Administration, University of Lucknow on 20 August 2016 . The workshop was led by Mr. Vikas Gupta, an alumnus of IIT Banaras and IIM Calcutta, and a solar energy entrepreneur. Mr. Gupta, a telecom professional, has 20 years of corporate experience, and worked last with Reliance Communication and Matrix Cellular in the field of Customer Service, Sales and Distribution, Business Information Systems, Personal Effectiveness and Development.
To sensitize the teachers about skilling students of professional courses, an interactive session on Enabling Employability I Expending Employment through Service Science was organized by LMA on 12 August. The interaction was led by Dr. Rajan Johri Managing Director LeadWynn, a Service Science Consultancy affiliated to Institute of Service Science, Zurich University and was attended by Head/Dean, Management and Engineering Faculties and their faculty colleagues of BBD University.
Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India issued Consultation paper based on a draft of National Education Policy (NEP) 2016 and invited public comments thereon. LMA organized an interactive session for generating responses on the draft policy from the stakeholders including State Government, some eminent domain experts and LMA members to be submitted to MHRD. The session was organized on 8 August 2016 which was chaired by Mr. Alok Ranjan Chief Advisor to Hon. Chief Minister Uttar Pradesh. An introductory presentation on the policy document was made by Dr. Sarvendra Vikram Singh Director General State Council of Education Research & Training (SCERT), Uttar Pradesh, followed by presentations by Dr. Geeta Kingdon Professor and Chair, Education, Economics and International Development, University College of London (who has done extensive research in basic education in Uttar Pradesh) and Dr. Rukmini Banerji CEO Pratham, a leading non profit in the field of basic education famous for their authoritative ASER reports. Mr. Ajay Kumar Singh Secretary Basic Education and several senior education adminstrators of Government of Uttar Pradesh were present in the session.
Government of Uttar Pradesh invited LMA research group on 5 August 2016 to present its report on Evidence Based Research Study on Ease of Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh. The LMA research group comprised professor Debashis Chatterjee and professor Jabir Ali of IIM Lucknow, professor Ashraf Rizvi Director Jaipuria Director, Jaipuria Institute of Management, professors. Kavita Pathak, Hemendra Gupta, Maneesh Yadav of JIML and Mr. A.K. Mathur Vice President & Executive Director LMA. The presentation of 165 page report was split in three parts. Prof Jabir Ali presented a study on "Obstacles in Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh". Dr. Kavita Pathak presented "Analysis of Data and Findings". Mr. A.K. Mathur presented "Summary of Qualitative Data and The Way Forward". Besides Mr. Alok Ranjan Chief Advisor to Hon. Chief Minister, U.P., Mr. Sanjay Agarwal Principal Secretary Infrastructure and Industrial Development, Mrs. Nivedita Shukla Verma Principal Secretary Horticulture and Food Processing, Mr. Anil Kumar Principal Secretary Registration, Dr. Rajneesh Dube Principal Secretary MSME, Mrs Alka Nanda Secretary Industries and Mrs. Kanchan Verma Executive Director Udyog Bandhu were among many senior officers from all concerned departments present in the meeting. Government appreciated the report and complemented LMA for the contribution. The report is under consideration of Government for implementation of recommendations.
LMA in collaboration with NHRDN and TiE organized a talk on Effective Public Speaking for Business Success by Mr. Pawan Gupta on 1 August 2016. Mr. Pawan Gupta (author of Talk to Convince), who lives in the U.S., is an author and Executive Coach. He has worked for 27 years in business and product strategy and has developed businesses in 24 countries. Mr. Gupta has worked in executive and senior roles at Microsoft, Toshiba, bSquare and in five start ups.
As a part of LMA’s outreach programme, a visit of LMA members was organized on 23 July 2016 to a primary school at Village Malhaur which is a part of I Care India project of transforming 100 Government Primary Schools in and around Lucknow being implemented by Mr. Anoop Gupta a Telecom professional and LMA member. LMA members interacted with village level officials, volunteers and local community members engaged in the transformation process of one primary school, one upper primary school and one anganwari situated in a row. I Care India succeeded in its effort to generate commitment in all stakeholders from state government to district and village level officials and local community to improve the school which was clearly visible. LMA has been supporting this project for over a year.
Reserve Bank has recently published a report on State Finances: A Study of Budgets 2015-2016 which represents the fiscal health of state governments and highlights the core issues and challenges in the medium term. LMA joined TECHNO Group of Institutions in an interactive session on the state of U.P.’s Finances with government officials, policy makers, academicians, research scholars, banks with Reserve bank of India Mumbai July 05, 2016 Mr. N.C Bajpai, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Govt. of U.P, and Dr. A.K. Sengupta Director General, TECHNO Group of Institutions were present in the programme among others.

The study was carried in collaboration with Prof Debashis Chatterjee and Prof Jabir Ali of IIM Lucknow, Prof Ashraf Rizvi Director Jaipuria Institute of Management, Prof Kavita Pathak, Dr. Hemendra Gupta and Dr. Maneesh Yadav of JIML.

Speakers were remarkable people working in diverse areas; KM Yadav, RTI Activist and anti corruption crusader, Anurag Awasthi, Founder and CEO, SIGO and social entrepreneur, Ankit Agarwal, Founder, Help Us Green, an environmentalist, Babar Ali Founder Anand Shiksha Niketan and world’s youngest Headmaster, Nirman Dave, a serial entrepreneur and a software innovator. Josh Talks is a conference that takes place once a year in New Delhi that showcases India’s most inspiring stories. It aims to disrupt, move, motivate and inspire people.
LMA in collaboration with National HRD Network Lucknow Chapter organized a Training Workshop on Managing Domestic Enquiries, Disciplinary Proceedings and Related Labour Laws on 25 June 2016. The workshop was attended by officers from central and state government department and private sector companies. Mr. Sanjay Bhasin M.Sc., LL.B Standing Chief Standing Counsel of U.P. Govt., Legal Advisor and Special Counsel of many organizations, Practicing Advocate in Labour Law & Service matters in Allahabad High Court (Lucknow Bench) and Dr. R.L. Kaul LL.D Professor of Law, Amity University Noida Campus &Former Asst G.M.(Law) State Bank of India were on the faculty of the programme. Mr. Kumar Lalit HR Head Tata Motors and President NHRD was present with NHRD team in the opening session.
LMA and NHRDN Lucknow organized a Workshop on Work Place Engagement on 24 June 2016. The Workshop was conducted by Ms. Prerna Agarwal HR Head of TCS Regional Office and Mr. Amrendra Vishen also of TCS with active involvement of about 100 participants with useful takeaways in the Game Marshmallow Challenge, a great team building activity. The lesson in marshmallow challenge is that we need to identify the assumptions in a project, the real customer needs, the cost of the project, the duration of service-and test them early and often. This leads to effective innovation. Among those present was Mr. Dhananjay Singh Executive Director NHRDN National Secretariat Gurgaon.
LMA joined 64 Bn. NCC in International Yoga Day training session 21 June 2016 in the Reserve Police Lines Ground, University Road Lucknow. Mr. Deepak Mahajan, a member of LMA, a yoga instructor and a prominent associate of Swami Ramdev conducted the session.
LMA organized an interactive session with representatives of Chikankari industry in Lucknow in which problems facing this traditional craft were discussed along with Government interventions needed to scale up the industry. The interaction was a part of U.P. Government mandated LMA Research Study on Ease of Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh. The session was attended among others, by Ms. Runa Banejee Padam Shree, doyen of industry credited with revival of this ancient craft and rehabilitation of impoverished woman artisans.
LMA organized a Wellness talk on Recent advancements in the treatment of Low Back Pain and Spondilytis on 11 June, 2016. The speaker was Dr. Dharmendra Singh Senior Consultant Spine Unit Medanta The Medicity , Gurgaon. He spoke about the symptoms, causes and treatment options of disease. Dr Dharmendra Singh is an accomplished spine surgeon, practicing as a consultant in Medanta Bone and Joint Institute, Medanta Medicity Gurgaon. He received basic spinal training from Indian Spinal Injuries Center and has been trained extensively by the world finest spine surgeons. He has had exposure to latest technology used in minimally invasive spine surgery. He is also expert in complicated spinal problems and revision surgeries like spondylolisthesis and failed back syndrome surgery.
LMA Knowledge Centre for Smart Cities and Urban Rejuvenation held an interactive session on presentation made by Mr. Neeraj Kapoor and Mr. Anurag Goyal on Concept of Sugar Mill in Smart City. Mr. L.K. Jhunjhunwala Chairman K.M. Sugar Mills & President FICCI U.P. Centre and Mr. Srijan Pal Singh an associate of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, author of a book on Smart Cities and Secretary APJ Adbul Kalam Centre were special invitees in the session.
LMA joined TiE in a learning Session on A Segmentation Approach to Devise an Effective Marketing Strategy on 28 May 2016 with noted corporate trainer Mr. Arvind Mishra The session involved use of fun and games to impart learning. Mr. Arvind Mishra is a certified and experienced corporate trainer with extensive corporate experience and many successful workshops to his credit
On 24 May 2016, LMA and LeadẄynn signed an agreement to provide Education, Training and Consultancy. LeadẄynn is a Change and Transformation Consultancy working with Service Science in the Organization Development and Business Management domain. Learning and Development, Process Re-engineering and Quality Improvement Services form part of its operations. LeadẄynn has collaborated with the Swiss Institute of Service Science (SISS), a constituent of the University of Zurich. SISS acts as the assurance body for maintaining the highest standards of content and delivery in Service Science. LMA and LeadẄynn will work together in three tracks. TRACK A: Jointly conducting Management Development Programs like Workshops and webinars, TRACK B: This track offers teaching of Service Science as an elective in the final year of Management and Engineering of already running programs of Institutions, and TRACK C: Offering a full Certification Program in Service Science.
LMA Women’s Forum organized an interactive session My Story with three woman social entrepreneurs who recently won FICCI –FLO awards for their outstanding achievements and contribution to the society. The panel comprised Ms. Sapna Upadhahay Founder of Eshwar Child Welfare Foundation which cares for treatment and rehabilitation of underprivileged children suffering from cancer, Dr. Pratibha Singh Woman Entrepreneur working for Women empowerment and Ms. Geeta singh who runs a school for underprivileged children. The panelists informed about their work and challenges faced by them. Ms. Aparna Mishra Convener of LMA women’s Forum conducted the proceedings
Sri Mewa Lal Founder, Muskan Jyoti Samiti has innovated a system by which organic fertilizer is made which replaces chemical fertilizers and pesticides using garbage and waste material. Use of this organic fertilizer has shown remarkable results in improving farm yield and preventing deterioration of soil (due to use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides) at a fraction of cost to the farmer, increasing his savings substantially. Many domestic and International agencies have appraised the process and have found it effective. LMA organized an outreach programme to study this initiative and LMA members visited village Madiyaon, Block Nindoora, Kursi Road, about 35 Km from Lucknow on 15 May, 2016. A number of farmers around that area and beyond have replaced chemical fertilizer and pesticides by the organic fertilizer and have doubled their income.
Chief Secretary Uttar Pradesh released the two LMA publications (i) Developing Smart Cities- Imperatives and (ii) Challenges and Evidence Based Research Study on Ease of Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh (Interim Report) on 12 May 2016. The first publication contains edited transcripts of presentations and speeaches made in LMA Convention 2015 and the second is Interim Report on a Government mandated research study which is being carried out by LMA in collaboration with two professors of IIM Lucknow, Director Jaipuria Institute of Management Lucknow and his two colleagues.
Nanotechnology is helping to considerably improve, even revolutionize, many technology and industry sectors: information technology, energy, environmental science, medicine, homeland security, food safety, and transportation, among many others.But could Nano Technology harm the society in some ways? LMA organized a lecture meeting on the theme Nano Technology-Friend or Foe on 11 May, 2016 obsrved as National Technology Day to commemorate the anniversary of first of the five tests of operation Shakti (Pokhran-II) nuclear test, which was held on 11 May 1998 in Pokhran, Rajasthan. Apart from Pokhran nuclear test, on this day the first indigenous aircraft Hansa-3 was test flown at Bangalore and India also conducted successful test firing of the Trishul missile on the same day.The speaker was Dr. Qamar Rahman, an eminent scientist with International credentials. Prof. Rahman’s pioneering work includes the study of occupational hazards and toxicity of particulate air pollutants, like silica, asbestos Nanoparticles. Prof. Qamar Rahman, Ph. D, D. Sc. (HC), FNASc, FST is Visiting Professor, University of Rostock, Germany. Research Prof. University of Luisiana, lafayette, USA, Adjunct Professor Hamdard University Delhi, Distinguished Professor, Amity University Noida Campus, Member Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation, Director & Dean Research (Science and Technology),Amity University, Lucknow. Prof. Rahman was conferred with honorary doctorate from Rostock University, Germany in 2009. She is the first Indian in the 600 years of the university to receive this honor and shared the platform with Scientists like Albert Einstein who also received this honour from the Rockstock University. She has also received Vigyan Vibhushan award by the Chief Minister UP in 2013. Dr. Qamar Rahman is a Life member of LMA.
LMA organized an Industry Stakeholder’s Workshop on 5 May 2016 on Ease of Doing Business in Uttar Pradesh with focus on issues facing leather industry at Kanpur. Over 30 industry leaders participated in the workshop in which a number of issues were flagged and policy prescriptions suggested. Prof Hemendra Gupta of Jaipuria Institute of Management, a member of LMA Research group on the subject and Mr. Anil Kumar District Industries Officer, Kanpur participated in the interaction. Kanpur Leather Cluster Institute of Professional Studies sponsored the event.
An interactive session on Developing Smart Cities was organized by LMA Knowledge Centre for Smart Cities and Urban Rejuvenation on 29 April, 2016. Mr. Srijan Pal Singh, an associate of Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Secretary of Dr. Kalam Center, Lucknow and co author of book Smart and Human: Building Cities of Wisdom with GRK Reddy, MD MAARG Group participated in the session. Mr. Mewa Lal of Muskan Jyoti Samiti also made a presentation on Agri-Bio Waste Management for Sustainable Agriculture in the session.
LMA invited Mr. O.P. Srivastava to screen "Life in Metaphors-A Portrait of Girish Kasravallii" in our meeting scheduled on 26 April, 2016. Mr. O.P. Srivastava, an investment banker by profession, was fascinated by internationally acclaimed film maker Girish Kasaravalli. Based on the life of Kasaravalli, Mr. Srivastava made this film, which won him the prestigious 63rd National Film Award for the Best Film on Biographical/Historical Reconstruction as the Director of the film for the year 2015. The film has been officially selected for New York Indian Film Festival 2016, 14th International Film Festival at Dhaka, Asiatica Film Mediale, Rome, International Indian Film Festival, Toronto and has been screened in many Indian cities. Mr. Srivastava belongs to Lucknow.
Women's Forum of LMA organized an Interactive Session on Women’s Security in Public Places on 22 April, 2016 in collaboration with two non-profits Saanjhi Duniya and Lucknow Expressions. Dr. Roop Rekha Verma, Former Vice Chancellor, University of Lucknow and a well known social activist running Saajhi Duniya and Ms. Kanak Rekha Chauhan of Lucknow Expressions led the discussion. A video Film on the subject produced by Saanjhi Duniya and UNICEF was also screened in the programme.
Young Managers Forum of LMA organized a Workshop on “Managerial Styles” on 18 April, 2016 Speaker was Prof Mirza Saiyadain. Prof. Saiyadain, a very senior academic is a PhD. in Human Resource Management & Org. Behaviour from University of Kansas, USA. He has taught at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad, Lagos University (Nigeria), McGill University (Canada), and University Sains Malaysia (Malaysia). He has been a consultant to UNESCO, UNFPA, Arab State Broadcasting Union, Asia Pacific Institute of Broadcasting, Malaysia, Tribhuwan University, Nepal and many public and private sector organizations including multi-national in India and aboard. He has a lot of published work to his credit including 15 books.
